Till’ the Clock Strikes

When the stars emerge out of their hiding and the dark blanket covers above, her hide-out awaits. A snoring sound fills the hollow room as she rests her eyes, wrapped up like a cocoon, ready to embark on a voyage where her issues seem to fade away into the background, her main way of coping with her constant existential crisis sessions.

Her mind gradually drifting away, disconnected from the so-called ‘real world.’ A getaway, from all the lingering loads and fears from who knows when, that has always been somehow lurking in her life, waiting to remind her of her troubles at any moment.

She arrives at her favourite destination. Her safe haven where her sense of security is strengthened more than ever. A world where time seems to stop, allowing her to effectively dodge whatever she didn't want to deal with and simply breathe.

Her thoughts slow like the end credits of a movie, each floating away, inviting her dreams as when she sleeps, her fantasy comes to play. In sleep she feels serene as the silence, softness, and sense of rest is something she adores. In sleeps she feels the cradle of the loving universe, as if she was being reassured by it, telling her it’s going to be alright.

Her sanctuary was only temporary though. As the clock strikes midnight, shadow figures slowly formed. A new day brings with it a fresh set of challenges. However, they vanished, completing the dark space to nothing at all. She mulls on where she should go in the future, where she will find the warmth she requires, until her phone lights up with a notification from her loved ones.

A smile began to emerge on her face as a wave of warmth washed over her. They existed in a nice space that she needed to change into, separate from her past, exterior to the harm and sorrow. She's moving on. Finally.
